Trust His Heart

A friend recently sent a link to the song Trust His Heart. I first sang this song 8 years ago and the song had been an encouragement when I was a young Christian back then.

Again, I have been reminded through the song lyrics that God works wondrously in ways that I cannot fathom. You can check out the song in the attached link.

All things work for our good
Though sometimes we can't see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth

Our Father knows what's best for us
His ways are not our own
So when you pathway grows dim
And you just can't see Him
Remember He's still on the throne

*
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
TRUST HIS HEART

He sees the master plan
He holds the future in His hand
So don;t live as though you have no hope
All our hope is found in Him

He walks in presence light
He sees the first and the last
And like the tapestry
He's weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him

Repeat *

He alone is faithful and true
He alone know what's best for you
Repeat *

Priorities, Planning and Paperwork - A Good Read

I recently borrowed a book from Siew Ean and that book had been sitting in my book shelf for the past 6 months!! Anyway, I am glad that I finally finished it and thought it would be cool to share a book review :-)

The book was written by Peter Brierley and he did a good explanation on setting goals and priorities. He also shared on techniques for planning, paperwork and time management. I know, I know, this sounded a lil bit dry but believe me, it is a practical book to lay your hands on.

Would like to share a poem found at the end of the book. Thought it is appropriate, in line with the message found in the book.

GOD - PEOPLE - WORK

Take time

Take time to think
It is the source of power
Take time to play
It is the source of perpetual youth
Take time to pray
It is the greatest power on earth
Take time to love and be loved
It is a God-given privilege
Take time to be friendly
It is the road to happiness
Take time to laugh
It is the music of the soul
Take time to give
It is too short a day to be selfish
Take time to work
It is the price of success.

OATH or SWEAR ?? IS IT THE SAME ??

VENUE : Shieh Wei's house

Date : 11th October 2007

Time : 8.30 p.m

" Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, " Do not break your OATHS, but keep the OATHS you have made to the LORD."

But I tell you, Do not SWEAR at all : either by heaen, for it is God's throne; or by the earth; for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not SWEAR by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.

Simply let your 'Yes' be "Yes,' and your ' NO,' ' No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one."

Matthew 5:32-37

' Woe to you, blind guides ! You say,' If anyone SWEARS by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone who swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his OATH. You blind fools ! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred ?

You also say,' If anyone SWEARS by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone SWEARS by the gift on it, he is bound by OATH.'

You blind men ! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred ?

Therefore, he who SWEARS by the altar SWEARS by it and everything on it. And he who SWEARS by the temple SWEARS by it and the one who dwells in it. And he who SWEARS by heaven SWEARS by God's throne and by the one who sits on it.'

Matthew 23:16-22

What is an OATH ?? What does it mean to SWEAR ??

After much 'heated' discussion....we all agreed on Joshua's sum up....=)

An OATH is a 'binding' agreement that is made between two parties...for example..in a marriage..the husband takes an OATH to take care of his wife..in sickness and in health, for poorer and for richer...and etc..etc....

and

You SWEAR when you want to prove further your convictions / what you will do. For e.g...You SWEAR by..etc..etc....that you will study hard.../ that you did not do this crime / that you will take care of so and so....

But shld we SWEAR / TAKE AN OATH ??

Conclusion : We should NOT swear / take any oaths IF we don't need to. This is because IF we are ppl of God...and God is a GOD who is FAITHFUL and TRUE....we'll be doing what we say..and we'll be keeping our words for what we say.

BUT...what about in a court of law ?? Should we SWEAR / TAKE AN OATH ??

Conclusion : YES !! This is because the law 'enforces' this on us and so that the witnesses will be bound by what they say on the witness stand....

All in a day's work

My school is having the test week since early this week. Some funny incidents that I thought are worth mentioning :-)

Record sleeping --- A boy finished his exam way ahead of time and he dramatically took out ...... of all things.... an eye shade, pull it over this head and slept through the entire hour. Talk about getting comfortable!!

Mother's love --- Yun Ha's mum packs her lunch box everyday and also some extra for her friends ;p There's a lot to be learnt about motherhood through my students' life and i thank God for letting me be a witness to these as I teach them everyday.

Young Adults Meeting - 27th September 2007

Venue : Shieh Wei's place

Time : 8.30 p.m

We started with a time of singing led by Raymond and continued to a time of discussion led by Andrew....

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MATTHEW 5:32 AND MATTHEW 19:9 ??

' But i tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.'

Matthew 5:32

' I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.'

Matthew 19:9

IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THESE TWO VERSES ????

Shieh Wei's thought : In Matt 5:32...it speaks of the womans role in causing adultery....because it says...anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery...BUT...in Matt 19:9..it speaks of the man's role it says...anyone who divorced HIS wife.....marries another woman...commits adultery....

Joshua's thought : In Matt 5:32, it says, for example, IF i marry Shieh Wei, Shieh Wei is unfaithful and i divorce her, Shieh Wei is an adulteress ! Then, when Shieh Wei marries Raymond...then Raymond becomes and adulterer too !! BUT....I'm clean !!!=p

Raymond's thought : Agrees with Joshua and gives the same example as Joshua...

Yvonne's thought : NO !!! It says.....EXCEPT FOR....marital unfaithfulness...meaning simply divorce her....

Chun Hui and Jie Han : Hmmmmmmmmm......* in deep thought*

Li Ean's thought : Hmmmm....thinks its correct what Yvonne says...but thinks also its correct what Joshua says......hmmmm...( confused...)

Andrew's thought : Brings us back to Gen and Deut 24:1 where no one shld divorce his/ her spouse and brings us to how the relationship ought to be something like the relationship between us and Christ...( Blog Administrator : Actually horr...I still do not get how this connects with the question above on the diff between the verses.....;p )

CONCLUSION : No Conclusion !!=p.....BUT...we concluded that God is displeased with any divorce because when a man and woman come together...they are joined as one in Christ and what Christ has joined...let no one separate......

We also learned on how the world has 'degenerated' into taking divorce and marriage lightly that no one honors it anymore. We learned on how we ought to consider wisely and with the LORD as we contemplate our future spouses and family life......what an appropriate thought for Young Adults....=)
